Our Story

Our story begins in 2011 when the Morgantown History Museum became the first city-sponsored museum in the area. Our mission is to preserve and promote local and regional history and to make it accessible to the citizens of Morgantown and visitors to the region!

Our museum’s collections tell the history of Morgantown and how we have progressed through the years. Currently, our collection period is pre-history to the present, including social, cultural, industrial and military artifacts, photographs, and information. At our location, we record, preserve and collect acquisitions and donations related to Morgantown and the surrounding areas. Our exhibits represent a selection of our collection daily with feature exhibits throughout the year. Permanent exhibits include Don Knotts, a vintage printing shop, local glassware and pottery, and much more! Group tours are available upon request.
